Sunday Women

It’s not unusual to see the whole family at tennis on Sundays. Mom’s on the court. Dad’s in the stands. Kids are on the playground. Perfect! The Sunday Women's League is open to women ages 18 and older with match play on Sundays in spring and fall. Each dual meet consists of five doubles matches. Each season includes seven weeks of regular play followed by playoffs and City Finals for teams that advance to the postseason. Teams are formed and managed by individual members and play out of ALTA-approved facilities, including tennis centers, private clubs and neighborhoods. Each team must have a minimum of 12 women. Once registered, teams will be assigned a level/flight by the league vice president and placed in a division with a schedule of play for the season. Playing levels include AA, A, B and C ensuring a competitive, fun experience for all players regardless of ability.

Sunday Women League

Team placement is determined by previous performance of the team and its current members. If new to an established team, a player’s history can impact the team’s level and is evaluated on a hierarchy of previous league play. League officials look at, in this order, Sunday level (prior two seasons), Thursday level (prior two seasons), Mixed Doubles level (prior two seasons), Senior Women's level (most recent past season).
Adult women are eligible to play in both the Sunday and the Thursday leagues each season. When a Thursday player first joins a Sunday team, her Thursday level will be factored with the level of the Sunday team. She will then have a Sunday level and a Thursday level.
Other league information can be found in the adult rules and in the roster information packet found in Resources & Calendar. Can also be accessed by Go to ALTA Documents button below.

ALTA Documents

Need ALTA information? You're in the right place for rules, handbooks, guides and season packets that will answer questions and provide necessary instructions for playing ALTA tennis. Document availability is role-based. If you are a captain or other team leader, you will have access to more information than a regular member to help you do your job. ALTA follows the USTA Rules of Tennis found in Friend at Court. You should also consult ALTA's rules for specific guidelines concerning league play and other ALTA-sponsored events. Those rules provide information on ALTA-specific regulations, such as default, forfeiture, retirement, scheduled match, sandbagging, inclement weather, rules specific to each league, Senior Leagues, Junior Leagues and Junior Challenge Ladder.
