Mixed Doubles

Looking for a way to spend more time with your spouse? The Mixed Doubles League offers weekend play for men and women ages 18 and older. We’ve even heard tales of happy couples who met each other on a Mixed Doubles team. Mixed Doubles teams play on Sundays in winter and Saturdays in summer. Each dual meet consists of five doubles matches. Each season includes seven weeks of regular play followed by playoffs and City Finals for teams that advance to the postseason. Teams are formed and managed by individual members and play out of ALTA-approved facilities, including tennis centers, private clubs and neighborhoods. Each team must have a minimum of six men and six women. Once registered, teams will be assigned a level/flight by the league vice president and placed in a division with a schedule of play for the season. Playing levels include AA, A, B and C ensuring a competitive, fun experience for all players regardless of ability.

Team placement is determined by previous performance of the team and its current members. If new to an established team, a player’s history can impact the team’s level and is evaluated on a hierarchy of previous league play. For women, league officials first look at play in the Sunday or Thursday leagues. For men, league officials first look at play in the Men’s league. The League Information for Team Placement document included in the Mixed Doubles Roster Information Packet gives complete search sequence information.
The adult rules and other league information can be found in Resources & Calendar. Can also be accessed by Go to ALTA Documents button below.

ALTA Documents

Need ALTA information? You're in the right place for rules, handbooks, guides and season packets that will answer questions and provide necessary instructions for playing ALTA tennis. Document availability is role-based. If you are a captain or other team leader, you will have access to more information than a regular member to help you do your job. ALTA follows the USTA Rules of Tennis found in Friend at Court. You should also consult ALTA's rules for specific guidelines concerning league play and other ALTA-sponsored events. Those rules provide information on ALTA-specific regulations, such as default, forfeiture, retirement, scheduled match, sandbagging, inclement weather, rules specific to each league, Senior Leagues, Junior Leagues and Junior Challenge Ladder.
