Junior Boys

There are Junior Boys teams for players of all ability levels from ages 7 to 18. Teams are grouped by age (10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under, 18 and under) and are leveled by ability and previous success. Junior Boys play at 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays in spring and fall. Each season lasts seven weeks followed by playoffs and City Finals. Matches feature two lines of singles and two lines of doubles. A team manager (most often a parent) assembles a team and manages it during the season. A minimum of eight boys is needed to form a team. The manager can pay the $10 membership fee for each member and ask parents for reimbursement. Or the team manager can require that the fee be paid by each parent prior to registering a team. A player cannot be added to a roster if the dues are not paid. The team manager submits the team roster via the ALTA website. Details for each of these steps can be found in the Junior Roster Information Packet. Once registered, teams will be assigned a level by the league vice president and placed in a division with a schedule of play for the season. Multiple playing levels ensure a competitive, fun experience for all players regardless of ability. For details on rules, format and scoring for Junior matches, please see the Junior Leagues rules and the Team Manager’s Handbook found under ALTA Documents. During the season, feel free to address any questions to your coordinator, a seasoned ALTA volunteer whose goal is to make sure you and your young team have a great experience!

ALTA Documents

Need ALTA information? You're in the right place for rules, handbooks, guides and season packets that will answer questions and provide necessary instructions for playing ALTA tennis. Document availability is role-based. If you are a captain or other team leader, you will have access to more information than a regular member to help you do your job. ALTA follows the USTA Rules of Tennis found in Friend at Court. You should also consult ALTA's rules for specific guidelines concerning league play and other ALTA-sponsored events. Those rules provide information on ALTA-specific regulations, such as default, forfeiture, retirement, scheduled match, sandbagging, inclement weather, rules specific to each league, Senior Leagues, Junior Leagues and Junior Challenge Ladder.
